According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 91.9 km² (35.5 mi²). 78.2 km² (30.2 mi²) of it is land and 13.7 km² (5.3 mi²) of it (14.91%) is water. It is located approximately 60 miles southeast of Orlando on the Space Coast along Interstate 95. It is approximately midway between Jacksonville and Miami. Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios and Cape Canaveral are within an hour's drive from Melbourne. In the Melbourne/Palm Bay area, there are 33 miles of uncrowded, clean and sandy Atlantic beaches, such as Spessard Holland in Melbourne Beach and the Boardwalk/5th Avenue in Indialantic. Melbourne is a center for water sports such as boating, fishing, sailboarding, scuba diving, surfing, water & jet skiing.
